The Risk Maps

The procedure proposed by EuroRAP provides for publishing risk maps and star rating maps covered by the project. Due to the limited capacities and funds, the Polish edition will include only the risk maps. The maps are to be published successively. First, the following three principal maps have been focused on:
  • 1st Map – an individual risk map, which presents the concentration of accidents that involve fatalities and serious injuries,
  • 2nd Map – a social risk map, which presents the density of accidents that involve fatalities and serious injuries,
  • 3rd Map – a map of critical sections on international roads in Poland.
The European scale of risk description on roads has been adopted in the assessment. One can easily assess with the map the safety of a road to be used in a travel. The risk level has been presented with a 5-grade colour scale: green means the lowest risk level (i.e. the highest safety level), while black stands for the highest risk level (i.e. the lowest safety level).
